After working with women in circle for over 30 years I have only deepened my understanding and commitment to Circle as an essential structural change for peaceful communities, families, conversations and reconciliation teaching us to grow empathy, compassion and the sacred art of listening.
Once upon a time women knew the local plants that Once upon a time women knew the local plants that could heal our daily ailments- headaches, gut issues, cold and flu, menstrual , menopausal and pregnancy support- the healing ways in our gardens as familiar as old friends. The use of herbal medicines allows women to reclaim their wisdom connected to earth, to listen to and build relationship with the plants around us, and to take responsibility for our health, to have our intuition intact and have choice when it comes to our bodies’ wellness. We are all Guardians of the waters of the Earth. W We are all Guardians of the waters of the Earth. Water is life. Water and women are the lifeblood of humanity. We are made of water. We gestate in water. Water smooths, soothes, transforms, connects, and carries songs, memories and knowledge…. The amniotic fluid we each bathed in for nine months holds generational stories of humanity and the ineffable knowledge needed to pass on to new life. Water magnifies our intentions. Sing to the water. Give thanks to the waters. Take care of the waters and wetlands in your place. Give your prayers and your fears and your tears to the water and let her take them. Perhaps, if women are like the moon- reflecting light, cycling in time with lunar rhythms, illuminating, powerful, everchanging …. then women also can affect the tides of change through our attunement to cycles, water and the sacred rhythmic pulse of our hearts. Re-store doesn't mean go back for more things at a Re-store doesn't mean go back for more things at a store, which maybe our consumerist culture would suggest. Instead Re-store implies a prayer, a commitment to cultivate, to fertilise the very soil of our bones, to nourish our womanself, to actively nourish connection to sisters and aunties and daughters and grand mothers, holding community as sacred, bringing healing to our families, touching the places where we walk. re-membering the ancient inherent skill of attuning to and co-operating with the seen and unseen realms. As Women we are the Life bringers, deathwalkers, and keepers of the sacred flame. Bringers of spirit into form. Creatresses. When we Re-store, we Re-story. What story are we writing for those who are yet unborn?

To attune to, and align with, the solstice is to r To attune to, and align with, the solstice is to re-member ourselves within the cosmos, molecular shapes vibrating on the rhythmic pulse of Mother Earth’s breath moving through us on a sphere of water and stone at unimaginable yet imperceptible speed. We are formulations of light and electrical current in a continuum of spiralling life force energy, mana, infused with spirit, everchanging, growing, morphing…. To honour the Soulstice is to remember eternity, the cosmic joke, the Great Mystery, the miracle. Light a candle, or incense or make a fire. In the Southern Hemisphere acknowledge the zenith moment, the sun at its latitudinal peak, a climax, a portal, offering gratitude for the immensity of light, the generous summer days. Pause, like at the top of a mountain Breathe, observe where you’ve been, take in the wide view, the elevated vantage point. Kiss the Sky In the Northern Hemisphere welcome the blanket of darkness, the quietude of gestation, from which all things are born, the Below, all roots reaching downwards for nourishment and strengthening, whispering murmurs that call us to pay attention to the heartbeat. Our bodies are miracles. Alive, breathing, capable Our bodies are miracles. Alive, breathing, capable of transforming internal and external realities. Care for the body is a form of activism. It is also a doorway to understanding our reciprocity with the Earth and elements. The way a society cares for women is indicative of the way that society cares for the Earth. Women, it starts with us. We are needed as a voice for harmony and peace. Begin with care for the body- the waters, the cycles, the blood, the word spells, the breath, the soulsong. We recently held another Warm Welcome to Womanhood We recently held another Warm Welcome to Womanhood program. Just one day of mothers and daughters held safely in Circle, sharing authentically and slowing down.
